Three years of age is a fun age to photograph. These little ones are full of energy, and you've always got to be on your feet (or down on your hands and knees, or laying on the ground) to capture them in their world. Take Miss Katelyn featured here. Spunky, energetic, and cute as a button.
At three years old, sometimes, kids need a little bit of encouragement for their brightest smile for the camera. For this little darling, it was a vibrant orange Dum-Dum sucker. The orange sucker made its way into a family photo!

I have had the wonderful job of taking Miss Katelyn's photos since she turned one. It is such a privilege to work with my clients year after year, watching their families grow. (you can see previous photo shoots of Katelyn here!) I've known Katelyn's dad for several years - back to the days of junior high - and getting to know his wife Julie in recent years has been awesome. I'm very honored to help this family capture images of their baby girl!
Sometimes, kids favor one parent over the other. Which do you think she is...a "Momma's Baby" or a "Daddy's Girl?" I can't decide! I think both! (Can you have both? I think she does!)
I love to capture those moments where the kids don't always know (or care) that I am taking their photos as they do what they do. Katelyn was definitely in her own element here, and it was so fun to watch how happy she was to run as fast as she could into both mom and dad's arms! (and maybe even knocking dad over in doing so. No photo proof of this ;-)
